First Andreev corpus batch
The corpus contains 79 candidates: 73 included, five deferred, and one excluded.
All judgments are agent relevance assessments, with reasons and evidence in the
review register. No decisions have human
confirmation. Inclusion records relevance, not validation of the scientific claims.
Collection took place on 9 September 2026 in Europe/Amsterdam; recorded UTC times
fall on 8 September. This is an initial sample, not comprehensive coverage.
Discovery and review
Seven arXiv query families returned eight records each: bound states, reflection,
multiple reflection, qubits, crossed reflection and pair splitting, related
Josephson physics, and related subgap physics. Queries cover submissions from
2016-01-01 through 2026-09-09 00:00 UTC. They use relevance ordering and stop at
start=8. A full batch does not establish exhaustion, and the subgap OR query
returned Majorana comparisons rather than a balanced YSR sample.
OpenAlex title search returned eight records, six new canonical works and two
identifier-backed matches to existing seeds. Five targeted arXiv seeds and three
foundational DOI records broadened the batch. A title-and-review-type query
returned only a work on literary criticism, which was excluded as a surname match.
That result does not establish scarcity of physics reviews: known relevant reviews
were recovered elsewhere. Combined search and date/type filters failed local
PatchScholar validation; both failed specs and the filter-only workaround remain
in the ledger.
Reference expansion around Prada et al. retrieved eight further candidates.
Twelve of that review's 262 OpenAlex references are locally resolved, leaving 250
unfetched. Six new references were included as foundations or related device and
measurement predecessors; two broad books need section-level review. Incoming
citations have not been collected.
Across successful acquisitions, 81 records became 79 canonical candidates. Counts
of new candidates in the ledger credit their first acquisition. The two possible
versions of Andreev reflection in altermagnets remain separate pending identity
review; no title-only merge was made. Canonical dates can follow the preferred
journal source, while arXiv date filters concern initial submission dates.
Representative accepted seeds and predecessors include:
- Sauls, Andreev bound states and their signatures: broad physics review, including unconventional superconductors.
- Prada et al., From Andreev to Majorana bound states: hybrid nanowires, impurity and quantum-dot states, and detection.
- Hays et al., Coherent manipulation of an Andreev spin qubit: experimental control and circuit readout.
- Mishra et al., Yu-Shiba-Rusinov qubit: related impurity-bound qubit; the introduction explicitly connects it to Andreev-level qubits.
- Blonder, Tinkham and Klapwijk (1982), Beenakker and van Houten (1991), and Averin and Bardas (1995): interface transport, short Josephson contacts, and multiple reflection.
- Andreev billiards, specular reflection in graphene, and atomic-contact qubit control: earlier foundations across distinct subtopics.
Closely related inclusions also cover Cooper-pair-splitter thermoelectricity,
Andreev-assisted quantum-dot readout, superconducting diode transport, parity
and quasiparticle dynamics, odd-frequency pairing, and early hybrid microwave
circuits. The search plan states the inclusion boundary.
Twelve accepted works predate 2016 and carry earlier-foundation. The remaining
61 accepted works span every year from 2016 through 2026. Relevance sorting and
small family samples leave substantial imbalance; these counts measure the sample,
not yearly coverage.
Follow-up decisions
Five candidates remain deferred:
- 1, Bosonic Andreev bound state: source inspection confirms a formal bosonic analogue; review whether this belongs within the intended scope.
- 64, Gapless Andreev bound states in the quantum spin Hall insulator HgTe: title is relevant but OpenAlex supplies no abstract; retrieve arXiv:1601.08055.
- 65, Andreev reflection in altermagnets: likely journal counterpart of candidate 34 (arXiv:2303.14236); verify identifiers before accepting both or assigning identity.
- 72, The Kondo Problem to Heavy Fermions: identify the superconducting-impurity sections supporting its relevance.
- 73, The Universe in a Helium Droplet: identify the cited Andreev or subgap-state sections.
Original full text is cached for five papers: four source archives and one PDF
returned by the arXiv source endpoint. The
full-text manifest records hashes and paths.
Only the bosonic analogue and YSR qubit received targeted source inspection;
downloading a paper does not count as reading it. Source text was extracted under
ignored data/extracted/; nothing downloaded was executed or compiled.
Continuation
Continue arXiv families at start=8, preferably splitting later batches by year
and adding separate YSR, spectroscopy, quantum Hall, superfluid helium,
unconventional-superconductor, and disordered-proximity searches. The next
OpenAlex title page is page=2; remove the review-type restriction when locating
known reviews. No topic query is recorded as exhausted because provider-end
metadata was unavailable in the fetch output.
Continue packs/2026-09-09-references.yaml with a bounded limit to fetch further
missing references. Add incoming citations around seeds from different subtopics.
Recover the original 1964 Andreev paper, early crossed-reflection foundations,
and additional experimental spectroscopy seeds. Check recall against known papers
before making any coverage claim.
PatchScholar's missing topic-pagination metadata and restriction on combined
OpenAlex search and filter, and eager credential loading for offline commands,
were reported via agentdispatch to thread
054f1c76-e075-4e6d-94c3-9a6dae3b22a8 (delivery sequences 638007, 638061 and 638179).
Reusable software remains in the sibling package.
Local artifacts and replay
Provider requests are under searches/2026-09-09/. The reference ID list is the
exact ID-lookup input saved by PatchScholar's expansion action; its pack records
the seed and limit. Detailed results are under data/batches/2026-09-09/, and
pack-run paths are recorded in the result files and ledger.
The attachment and review packs archive actions against this database's canonical
IDs. Do not replay them against a fresh database or overwrite later human
judgments. The CSV register also carries DOI/arXiv identifiers for inspection
without that database. pixi run accepted, pixi run candidates, and
pixi run reviews inspect the current state; pixi run export emits accepted
BibTeX. A snapshot is available at exports/andreev-2026-09-09.bib.
Git tracks requests, decisions and coverage notes. Raw downloads, the database,
review history and exports remain ignored and require separate backup. OpenAlex
requests used the documented password-store command without exposing credentials.
The command was supplied only for remote acquisition after a local config trial
showed that eager credential loading also prevented sandboxed offline queries.
